What are the distances? Novice Distance: 2.5k run/walk followed by 10km cycle followed by 2.5km run/walk

‘Challenge Yourself Distance’: 5k run/walk followed by 10k cycle followed by 5k run/walk

What are the venues and dates?



Who can enter? Sheactive Every Woman's Duathlon is open to all women - size or shape does not matter. However, there are some rules around minimum age, you have to be 14 years old on the date of entry


What kind of level of fitness will I need? If you can manage to walk around the shops for a few hours, you should be able to complete our event. But having said that, it is best to do some training and make a commitment to it.

Work toward two bike rides and two walk / runs per week over either four; eight or 12 weeks and you will have all you need to finish a your duathlon. We do provide training tips on our website to keep you going up until your big event.


Do I have insurance during the event?

Yes every participant is covered for public liability insurance in the event that an unforseen accident occurs as a result of the event or event organisers.  However participants are not covered for mishaps or accidents that may occur as a result of participanting in the event such as a bike accident or an injury.  We recommend that all participants take out adequate personal medical insurance (event organisers cannot recommend types of coverage please see a specialist company in relation to this)


 

What happens if it rains? Unfortunately, you get wet! We do plan the events around the summer months, who can tell with our British summers!?


Will there be any cancellations of events? Events will go on in the rain, snow, heat and wind. Being ready for the conditions is all part of being prepared for a duathlon.


Are there going to be finish photos? There will be photographers at the event and all photos will be displayed on their website



How old do I have to be to enter? 
I’m afraid we do have a minimum age of 14 years old on the date of entry


How do I enter? You can enter online with our secure online booking form. Alternatively you can print out an entry from and post to us with a cheque enclosed made payable to ‘Cool Breeze Events’.


When is the last date I can enter? Entry closing dates:

How do I know I am entered? You will receive an email following your successful registration. 


How much does it cost to enter?
Individual entry fee - Novice distance is £33
Individual entry fee – ‘Challenge yourself’ distance £37


What is the refund policy? We cannot accept refunds. But if for whatever reason you are unable to participate, you are still more than welcome to come and collect your goodie bag at registration.


What is ‘registration’? Registration is where you can let us know that you have arrived and receive any further information on the day.

IT IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS to register! There will be detailed maps of the course, wave start times health and safety information.


What is the ‘Pre Race Briefing’? Before the start of each event we will run through the course, rules and health and safety information, it is absolutely essential that you are present for this.


Where do I find training programmes and tips? On our website we have a ‘training tips’ page with programmes to guide you along your way.


What is a ‘wave’? You will start the event in groups of approximately 50.  This ensures less crowding at any point of the event.  These groups are call 'Waves'.


How are the wave groups set? Race numbers and wave group numbers are set by the time and day when you enter on the website.


How can I be sure that I start with my friends? Starting orders are set as you enter online. The only way to guarantee that you start in the same wave with your friends is to enter very close to each other online.


What type of bike will I need? Any bike if fine, as long as it is road worthy. Tyres must be pumped up, brakes must be in good working order and of course some handle bars!


Do I have to wear a helmet? You will not be able to participate without a helmet that complies with safety standards.


What happens if I get a flat tyre or my bike breaks? We do suggest that you know how to put a chain back on and know how to change a tyre and have a spare. There will be marshals on route who may be able to help you and at most venues we will have a bike mechanic.


Are the roads closed? It varies from event to event:


Bushy Park: you will be cycling within the royal park. There is a very strict speed limit for vehicles through the park and all drivers will be aware there is an event taking place. This road will not be closed, but marshals will be at all junctions to assist with safe crossings.


Bucklers Hard: you will be cycling on quiet roads, but they will still be open to traffic. It is essential that you must keep left at all times and obey the Highway Code and listen to our marshals.


Cotswolds Country Park: you will be cycling on quiet roads, but they will still be open to traffic. It is essential that you must keep left at all times and obey the Highway Code and listen to our marshals.


Bristol Downs: The roads will be closed to general traffic but it is still essential that you keep left at all times and obey the Highway Code and listen to our marshals.

What road rules apply to us? Standard road rules that apply to motorists and cyclists apply to all athletes during the event. Consider the road rules as you would on any other day. Please respect what the marshals have to say and follow their directions for your own safety.


What is cycling etiquette? Keep To The Left. If you are passing another cyclist, please pass only on the right of them, call out to them so they know you want to pass. Before you pick up your bike put your helmet on. After you rack your bike, you can take your helmet off again.

 Road Awareness, Just be aware of what is happening around you, both in terms of vehicles and other cyclists. Use you peripheral vision to know where you are in relation to cyclists ahead or you, behind you or beside you.


Where do I leave my stuff? You can keep your essentials with your bike in the transition area. This should be kept in a bag or in an orderly fashion not just for your own convenience but for those around you.


Can I have a helper in transition? Unfortunately we can only allow you, the owner of the bike within this area.


Do I have to put my bike back in the same spot? YES. Upon returning from the ride, rack your bike in the same place.


What do I wear? For the cycle section, we suggest you wear cycle shorts or leggings/trousers (that won’t get caught in the pedals) which you can also wear on the run as there are no changing facilities between the three legs. 

During the cycle section you may wear either cycle shoes or trainers, at your discretion.

Helmets are compulsory. Sunglasses are optional. Running socks, sunglasses, sun hat, hair colour are all optional. Event numbers are placed on the front and back of your event shirt. Smiles MUST be worn!!


Where do I wear my number? Race numbers must be placed on the front and back of your shirt for the whole event. This is so we can see your number clearly for capturing on camera and is also easier when on the front to record your time.


How are we timed? At the end of the event your times will be recorded and can be found on our website following the event.


Where do I park at the event? Please refer to our event information for each location.


Are the runs on the grass or the road? Most of the runs are on hard packed fine gravel path or a walked in grass path.


What surface do we cycle on? Tarmac surface only
